We have a very important update from the nurse's station. There is a LOT of information we made as simple as possible in the infographic below. If you have any questions, please email Nurse Leslie at leslie.plyler@lcsd.k12.sc.us. If you'd like more details on the infographic bullet points, please continue to read the following message: 1. ALL MEDICATIONS AND SUPPLIES MUST BE PICKED UP BY 5/30. ANY LEFT BEHIND WILL BE DESTROYED. All medications and medical supplies, including but not limited to prescription drugs, EpiPens, non-prescription medications, and medical snacks (e.g., for diabetic care), must be picked up no later than May 30, 2025. Any items not retrieved by this date will be properly destroyed. No exceptions. Please note: these items cannot and will not be transferred to Indian Land Middle School (ILMS) or held over the summer for any rising 6th grade students. It is the sole responsibility of the parent or guardian to collect these materials by the stated deadline. 2. NEW MEDICATION/SELF CARRY PERMISSION FORMS ARE REQUIRED EVERY SCHOOL YEAR. New Medication Permission and Self-Carry Authorization Forms are required EACH school year. Forms from prior school years are not valid and will not be accepted for the 2025–2026 academic year. To avoid disruption in care, please access the required forms via the school’s website under “Nurse’s Station.” Completed forms and medications may be submitted beginning August 5, 2025. Important Reminder: Under no circumstances are students permitted to carry or self-administer any medication, including over-the-counter items such as ibuprofen or cough drops, without a fully executed and submitted Self-Carry Authorization Form. 3. ALL RISING 7TH GRADERS MUST HAVE UPDATED TDAP! South Carolina law requires that all students entering the 7th grade have documentation of a Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccine administered after the student’s 10th birthday. Proof of this vaccination must be submitted to Indian Land Middle School no later than August 11, 2025 (the first day of school). For inquiries, please contact ILMS directly. 4. NEW SCDPH LAW: RISING 5TH GRADERS MUST HAVE TWO HEPATITIS A VACCINES. Per updated South Carolina Department of Public Health (formerly SCDHEC) guidelines, all rising 5th grade students must have two documented doses of the Hepatitis A vaccine. If your child’s current vaccine records on file are incomplete, please submit updated documentation via email to Nurse Leslie or deliver it to Indian Land Intermediate School prior to the new school year. The first day of school is August 11th, 2025. 5. PLEASE RETURN ALL BORROWED CLOTHING BY MAY 30TH. If your child has borrowed clothing from the school due to accidents or unforeseen circumstances, we respectfully request that these items be washed and returned no later than May 30, 2025. These garments are part of a limited and generous donation supply that serves multiple students throughout the year. Timely return ensures continued access for those in need.
