Law Enforcement Services students participated in a field trip to the Lancaster County Council Chambers and County Courthouse on April 30. The students toured the County Courthouse and spent the remainder of the day engaging in a round-robin style session with guest speakers from Lancaster County Government and the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office. Speakers included: Chief Magistrate Judge Curtisha Ingram, Solicitor Randy Newman Jr., Public Defender Mr. William Fricke, Parks and Recreation Director Mr. Chris Clouden, Sixth Circuit Solicitor’s Office Victim Advocate Ms. Armani Reid, multiple law enforcement officials from the Sheriff's Office (including Lieutenant Aaron Carroll—SWAT Commander and Criminal Investigator OIC), Lancaster County Administrator Mr. Dennis Marstall, Lancaster County Deputy Administrator Mrs. Stephany Snowden, and from Lancaster County EMS, Ms. Monica Graham and Mr. Greg Brasington.
Students gained invaluable insight into county government and the inner workings of the criminal justice system from these subject matter experts who generously gave their time. Special thanks to our host and event coordinator, Lancaster County Deputy Administrator Mrs. Stephany Snowden, and her staff for organizing this outstanding experience for the Law Enforcement Program students at the Lancaster County School District Career Center. What a great day to be a Phoenix!

Law Enforcement Services 2 students enjoyed a field trip on March 26 to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Criminal Justice Academy & the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Hall of Fame. Completion of this academy is mandatory for all South Carolina Police Officers and Correctional Officers. The students spent the entire day on the field trip touring the compound’s various training sites and participating in a Crime Scene Investigation practical exercise. The students also got the chance to tour, witness, or interact with the following: information session on the mission of the academy, crime scene walk through, force on force shoot house, tour of advance forensics academy, physical ability test course, and a dorm tour. Somehow, there’s a feeling, the cafeteria was their highlight. Thank you to MAJ Florence McCants of the South Carolina Justice Academy for her support and coordination to make this field trip happen.

The Ambush Club's March main presentation consisted of a men’s fashion showcase. The demonstration focused on how to wear a suit from head to toe, plus proper care for each individual piece of the suit. The mentees also walked away with a free tie thanks to the main presenter, Mr. Henry Jones (a local Gospel promoter). We'd also like to thank local business consultant, Mr. Kevin Gray & motivational speaker & business owner, Mr. Stephen Loney for devoting their time and resources with the Ambush Club.
