Ms. Ray found a way to teach her students math with a "twist they couldn’t resist"! That’s right- they got to review fractions using TWIZZLERS today! We love that our teachers are always finding new (and delicious!) ways to bring lessons to life. Great job to Ms. Ray and her students!

Check out the Wall of Wonder, a display created by Ms. Boykin in honor of Black History Month! It features art and music history of the Harlem Renaissance. It’s not only informative but also interactive! Students can see it outside the cafeteria across from her room.
It looks awesome, Ms. Boykin! You did an amazing job, and the students love it, too!

Lancaster County’s ✨Dancing with the Stars ✨ winners are our very own 5th grade teachers, Ms. Kolbie Hinson & Ms. Dayna Bucey!
They killed it with jazz routine from the movie Trolls! Dancing to “September”, “I whip my hair back and forth”, and “Can’t stop the feeling”, our 5th grade math teachers lit up the stage Saturday night performing their hearts out at AJMS. This is an annual event that helps raise money for the Fine Arts Department at AJMS. Ms. Hinson and Ms. Bucey were paired up with two dance students from AJMS who they met up with twice a week for about a month to practice their dance and learn from them. The moms of these students created their bright beautiful backdrop which pulled the whole dance together!
We are SO proud of everyone, and Congratulations again to Ms. Bucey & Ms. Hinson for winning ⭐️Dancing with the Stars!⭐️

There is always something exciting happening when Ms. Roberts is teaching! The latest example? Here are the kids in her 5th grade science class learning about the phases of the moon- with OREOS!
Great job, Warriors!!

6th Grade teacher Ms. Brown has an awesome display outside her classroom honoring incredible African American figures for Black History Month! If your child is in the JPod, make sure they check it out!

Please see the information below regarding the Community Health Fair coming up in March!

Happy Friday, Warriors!
We wanted to share some pictures from the I Hall! Mr Hyde-Volpe’s STEM classes are learning how to build bridges and improve their teamwork skills.
Keep up the great work! And thanks for the photos, Ms. DiBella!

Ms. Halm has started a crochet craze at ILIS! Due to very popular demand, she is hosting Crochet Club three times a week! It started only two weeks ago and kids are working on the foundation stitches and looking forward to starting their first project. What a great opportunity, thank you for hosting this Ms. Halm!

Aiden, we are SO PROUD of you and your incredible placement at the District Spelling Bee! We thank you for representing ILIS so well and wish you all the luck at the Regional Spelling Bee!

You've asked, and we listened!
FAMILIES: This Thursday and Friday (weather permitting), come over to WarriorTown as we will roll out the Lost and Found cart so you can swing by and check for your child's items! There will be coats on the rack, and lunch boxes & water bottles in the bins below. The cart will be out during school hours in front of the gym (where the chicken bisciut sale happens). Swing through car rider line, come by on your lunch break, or while you're out running errands!
We hope you find this helpful, and your items make it back home to you!

😎Grab your shades! We’re shining ✨so bright✨after 100 Days!😎
ILIS has such incredible school spirit. Thanks to all the staff and students who rocked the neon colors today!
Pop on over to Facebook to see more photos!

The school is shining BRIGHT on our 100th day! We'll share photos of the kids dressed up a little later, but for now, we wanted to 🔦shine a light🔦 on how the kids spent their day in Ms. Hensley's class! To celebrate the 100th Day of School and being 100 Days Brighter, they lit up the room with flashlight reading!
Thanks so much for sharing with us, Ms. Hensley! I'm sure the kids loved it, too!

Please check our Facebook page for more photos, but our Lost and Found is bursting at the seams! Please highly encourage your students to swing by and check for their items. From heavy coats to lunch boxes, there are some nice items that are wanting to make it back home!

Reminder to all 6th grade parents:
Per SC DHEC School requirements, your child will have to have a documented Tdap vaccine given after the age of 10 years old on file before entering the 7th grade next year. The school must receive an updated DHEC SC-4024 form from your child's healthcare provider, or the Health Department, with the required vaccine documentation prior to the start of the 2024-25 school year.
If you have any questions, please email Nurse Leslie at Leslie.Plyler@lcsd.k12.sc.us.

Get out the door a few minutes early to make sure you secure a hot, fresh, delicious breakfast! We will see you in about 2 hours!

Woohoo! It's Chicken Biscuit time! Rain or shine- we will see you in the car rider line tomorrow morning. As always, thank you so much for your support of our school and our biscuit sale!

Ms. Arner's class has done this project since ILIS was created! For the third year in a row, our F Hall is adorned with incredibly creative and beautiful made samurai projects!
Here she is to tell you more about it:
"Our class finished up our samurai projects after learning all about Feudal Japan. They worked in small groups and had to be sure they were dressed like a samurai, wrote a haiku poem that Japan is know for, listed traits of a samurai and had to present to their peers. Their peers then voted on the best one in each class and they were given a ribbon. It was a fun project snd they had a lot of fun collaborating together!"
Congratulations on a job well done to Ms. Arner and her students! Be sure to scroll through to see all the projects!

We want to send out a big congratulations to Ms. Anderson and our Warriors who participated in the ACDA South Carolina Honor Choir! These students auditioned and joined other kids from across the state to form this special group of talented singers. The choir worked together to learn their songs and performed them this weekend in Florence, SC. We are so proud of you, and again, congratulations!

Another incredibly exciting, sugar fueled, FUNtastic Worthy Warrior celebration is in the books! We are so proud of these Warriors! Each and every one was nominated for making a personal improvement, helping someone out, a good deed, etc. Any staff member has the opportunity to nominate someone, and as you can see from this crowd, there were many students who caught their attention. We are already looking forward to the next one, but for now scroll on through to see all the smiles!

Time to pull out the neon 80's clothes! Grab your highlighers or puff paint and craft on an old shirt! Get on the bright colored soccer socks!
We're ready to celebrate the "Glow Up" we've had over the first 100 Days of School! Join in the fun on January 29th!
