Families- please note that the deadline for ordering our yearbook has changed to APRIL 8th! As it's the first Monday back after Spring Break, be sure to get your order in now so it doesn't slip your mind! We've had such a blockbuster year and this will be the perfect way for your Warrior to capture those memories forever!
Unfortunately, we cannot guarentee your student will get a yearbook if an order isn't placed before the deadline.

Our School Spirit was *so* strong last week as we were Celebrating Minds of All Kinds! We appreciate our students wearing the corresponding color (or accessory!) to show support to each group we highlighted. The sense of community we have at ILIS is something we are very proud of, and we are grateful to our Warriors for participating!

Don't forget 5th Graders- you earned a Pajama Day TOMORROW, Tuesday, March 26th!

We were able to make a HUGE donation to Belair Methodist's Food Bank thanks to the generosity of our Warrior Families. Thank you to all who donated!
With that being said, our 5th graders won the Grade Wars battle! To celebrate their victory, they have been awarded a Pajama Day! Parents- allow your 5th Graders to roll into school on TUESDAY, MARCH 26TH in their pjs!
Thank you again to all who donated!

Happy Thursday, everyone! We hope you're enjoying this gorgeous weather before the rain comes back!
Ms. Pickron had a really cool lesson in her class today. Here she is to tell you all about it!
"Currently, students in 5th grade are working on their Geometry Unit; Students have been exploring concepts of shapes and using hands-on-learning to identify properties of quadrilaterals. First, students began with manipulatives to physically compose and decompose shapes. Then, they had the opportunity to construct a Quadrilateral Robot of their own design."
Great work, everyone!

Our ILIS community came out STRONG for our first 💡Encore Expo💡! We want to say a big thank you to everyone who showed up to make the night a success! Our Encore teachers put in love and passion into their curriculum everyday, and gave tremendous thought, effort and planning to prepare for last night. Our students work hard every day to think big, and truly dream bigger as they create, explore and play in their encore classes (which often allow them to really flex their creativity)!
Last night our families were able to see work, videos or displays from Computers, Journalism, PE, Art, STEM and Music! We hope as you walked around and saw what your child is able to experience every day, you were just as impressed as we are with their accomplishments and the curriculum provided by their teachers!
We also want to say a huge thank you to the Media Center and its volunteers for having a blockbuster of an opening day at the 📚book fair📚! It seemed to never slow down from opening until “Closing Time”. Thank you Media Center, and thank you families for shopping! Enjoy your new books! 😁
We hope you had as wonderful a night as we did. Thank you for coming out to celebrate your students’ hard work with your family, for supporting our book fair and we hope you enjoyed the food trucks as much as we did!
Thank you so much, Warriors!

But most of all, come enjoy the incredible work your students have been creating in their encore classes. We are so proud of our students, and you will be too.

TOMORROW IS THE DAY! Encore Expo is happening! We can't wait to see our Warrior Families celebrating the work your students have created in their Encore Classes. We are also very excited to have everyone check out the opening night of the book fair! We know families love to walk around and shop with their students, and this is your opportunity to do so. And be sure to come hungry as we will have food trucks on site! Please remember, as with all LCSD events, will will have a clear bag policy in place. Thank you so much for coming, we can't wait to see everyone Friday night!

We hope everyone had a wonderful "pi day"! Our students celebrated in both fifth and sixth grade. Here are photos from Ms. Boykin's and Ms. Richmond's classes! Ms. Boykins 5th graders did a writing assignment in ELA, and Ms. Richmond's made skylines with digits of pi.
Thanks for sharing with us! And we can't wait to see everyone tomorrow!

In just a few short days, we will have our very first ENCORE EXPO! Featuring opening night of the Book Fair and food trucks, we invite you to walk around and see the work your students have been creating in their Encore Classes! Every encore will be showcased around the building, including performances from our Band and Chorus classes!
Just a reminder, as with all LCSD events, this event will have a Clear Bag Policy.
We can't wait to see you there!

We are having a very exciting March! In addition to the book fair coming next week, we are "Celebrating Minds of All Kinds"! We ask that students wear the color that represents each type of mind per day next week to show their support. Students can also wear funky socks on Thursday for Down Syndrom Day, and hats on Friday for Mental Health Awareness Day!
We can't wait to join together as a community and celebrate "Minds of All Kinds!"

On this absolutely beautiful day, we got to celebrate another batch of wonderful Worthy Warriors! Teachers and staff members can nominate students for many reasons- whether it’s showing examples of great integrity, improving a grade or being helpful, etc. After having epic ice cream sundaes, they enjoyed an extra long recess! We are so proud of these students and how they represent what it means to be a Warrior!
Everyone enjoy your long weekend! See you all on Monday!

Do you know what makes a gorgeous Spring-like day even better? Delicious ice cream from 🍦Waxhaw Creamery🍦! Our Admin wanted to treat the staff and thank them for all they do, day in and day out. Passionate, hard working, caring and dedicated are just some of the words we'd use to describe our team. We are grateful they call ILIS home.💙 And Admin, we want you to know how much we appreciate you, too! Thank you for all you do to make ILIS the best place to work!
We hope everyone has a wonderful day, and enjoy the sunshine! ☀️

Families- don't forget to support our first ever Spring Food Drive! It will be a battle between 5th and 6th grade, but ultimately we ALL win as we support our local food banks. We are accepting any canned or boxed non-perishable foods. Have your students bring their items to their home room every morning all next week!
Thank you so much for your donations, can't wait to see which grade comes out on top!

In 10 days, we have our FIRST EVER Encore Expo! We cannot wait for our families to join us to see what our students have been working on in their encore classes!
Not only will work be on display, but it will also be opening night of the book fair! To round out the Friday night fun, there will be three food trucks on site.
We hope to see you there!

Ms. Riddle is making sure the students’ voices are heard in this fun take on a sports classic!
Ms Riddle writes: “March Madness is in full swing in the band room as the tournament kicks off on March 4! This March Madness is presented by the US Marine Band and primarily features the marches of John Phillip Sousa as well as John Williams and Percy Grainger. Each week, students will listen to march matchups and vote on their favorite via the Marine Corp website. The tournament will continue through March 28.”
Thanks for sharing, Ms. Riddle! Parents, be sure to ask your students who they’re voting for, and may the best “march” win!

Happy Wednesday, Warriors!
On Monday, Mrs. Boykin's class researched an influential African American and did guided notes on each. They put all the information together to make a colorful and interesting banner! Students also took advantage of the beautiful weather we had during their recess!
W hope you all have a great day!

Is your student interested in Cheer? Ms. Harris is the cheerleading coach at Indian Land Middle School and she has exciting news for you! They are hosting a cheer camp over the summer for rising first through sixth graders and hope to see your students there!
